New
York in the seventies – not a hotbed for old time music, but my mother
always had on the car radio WHN – New York’s country music station. I guess
it seeped into my veins – especially that Convoy song. Years later after
catching David Grisman at a concert in Telluride , CO, I was drawn back in
– first through Grismans jazzy side, then eventually the country roots
started showing – Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, Stanley Brothers, Johnson
Mountain Boys, and later – The Reeltime Travelers came thru bringing the
real “Old Time” music to light. Shortly after, Sweet Sunny South dove in
head first into old time music. I’ve been dabbling in songwriting recently
also, with the help and inspiration of Cowbill.
I’ve lived in New York, Colorado, New Mexico and California. Settled now
with my wife Rebecca and my almost 3 year old little girl Sadie, we call
Paonia Colorado home. A few years ago we started Pickin’ Productions, where
we hire national and regional bands to entertain us in this little town of
ours. So, music has overtaken my world, and just keeps getting bigger. And
that works for me.
